Australia batter David Warner explains why the WTC final should be a three-game series

Australia and India will meet at The Oval in London on June 7 for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023. The two fierce rivals on the cricketing field will cross swords for what is considered the ultimate prize in the game’s longest format.

Ahead of the eagerly-anticipated WTC 2021-23 Final, Australia batter David Warner opined on having a three-match series instead of a one-off Test to decide the ultimate champion. The southpaw believes that more than one Test is needed to decide the winner for the coveted trophy. The hard work that all Test teams show throughout the cycle of two years deserves a better reward.

“I think it’s great. I have been – I won’t say critical – but I do think it should be at least a three-game series with Test cricket only. You play two years of good cricket, then you play on a neutral venue against an opposition. We’ve all played here before but [this game is] not against the same [host]
