It’s About Time That KL Rahul Picks Up His Form!

KL Rahul

You can’t let a good man down and that too, for long! Heard that one before? You may certainly have. And ditto for KL Rahul. After all, if there’s a person in the international cricketing world whose present state of being most reflects this thoughtful statement, then it’s him.

To many of us, KL Rahul is the batsman that India need in the long run. Forget that mega century at the Lord’s when most others around him, he’s proven himself on a number of occasions.

And here’s the thing that stands out about the mild-mannered man.

Few align power and a sense of timing in such a graceful, pleasing to the eye way as KL Rahul. Though, what one saw a few hours back in the famed Indian Premier League’s contest where his Lucknow were up against Chennai was something really different.

KL Rahul was nowhere to be seen, despite being actively involved in a partnership up top the order.

The right-hander wasn’t his usual flowing and powerful self; all the damage with the bat was being done by the man holding strike for the better part of that first wicket partnership.

His name? Kyle Rico Mayers. His common trait? Hitting boundaries and sixes for fun.

The most that one of India’s most beloved present batsman was seen doing was to hold the other end and keep the flow of runs going. The big strikes- whether the massive hits or the luscious sixes belonged to the West Indian, who lest it is forgotten, is a newbie in the IPL.

In the end, the captain of the Lucknow Supergiants departed for a 20.

But was that the only worrying thing concerning KL Rahul?

One game earlier, against the Delhi Capitals, KL Rahul scored another pitiable score; going no further than putting 8 to his name.

More dramatically, this was his outfit’s campaign opener in the IPL 2023. He ought to have tried harder. He ought to have made more runs.

Now while his timing and talent are beyond the scope of doubt, what isn’t is KL Rahul’s current form.

Truth be told, it dictates that the very accomplished batter has to find the way to hit those big and useful runs. It’s not just super urgent; it’s come to a stage where one can’t be blamed for thinking that the career of a promising figure of Indian cricket may be hanging by a loose thread.

In his last 7 Test knocks, Rahul returned 95 runs and that’s it.

And guess what?

The only man who can correct all that has gone wrong with his batting is the man himself. In lighter vein, blessings from the other Rahul who’s the figurehead of the national side, one known as the Wall won’t do. Nor will the good wishes from KL Rahul’s close friend and one of Indian cricket’s timeless jewels Virat Kohli serve the purpose.

Rahul’s got to walk the patient path to the runs and do it all by himself. What’s rather important is that a one-off knock even if it leads to a ton won’t do. He’d really need to set the IPL 2023 on fire as he has on the past several occasions.

Being newborns to India’s most beloved T20 league, it is only meaningful that an experienced campaigner like KL Rahul leads by an example.

He’s not just a premier marksman whose main weapon of choice is the bat; he is the captain of a side that currently looks to him for inspiration.

Can anything be better than that?

KL Rahul desperately needs runs in this IPL to get back the lost confidence
